I don’t think that Melinda told her parents what happen because, she is afraid of what they will say, or do. So she is in that position where she doesn’t know what to do. She also doesn’t want to cause she will get in trouble for sneaking out and going to that party when she wasn’t supposed to go. So I think that she wants her mom and dad to tell her what’s wrong and maybe then she will tell them. But then again maybe they will not support her and maybe they will she doesn’t know at that moment. But all she knows right now is that she should not say anything and that maybe it will all go away. but she knows that it wont and that’s why the book is called speak cause she does not say a thing.
I think that she knows that she will have to tell someone soon cause she cant hold it in any longer and that’s why she feels bad for the frog cause it cant say anything and its dead too so that’s why she p-asses out and ya so right now she doesn’t feel comfortable any one so ya.

I agree with this. I think she is afraid of what the consequences will be. Melinda does not want anything to get worse, which I don't see how that could be possible, but who knows.
Yes i agree with at.She needs someone that she can tell so all the pain she feels is gone.But again she has no one to tell.And the frog is right she feel like someone is doing the some to her.
this is a very good way to describe malindas mind state. thinking about the party and her parents, its very stressful if you ask me. so i under stand why shes a suicide risk, it's because of her thoughts. fantastic.

yeah i think that's why she's not telling her parents cause she scared that they will be like well if you weren't there then that never would happened to you. That's what happened to me. Something happened to me but I've never told my parents cause i don't want that kind of reaction out of them. I Don't want to hear them say that words "if you wouldn't of been drinking then..." you know the rest. I think that's why she's holding it back.

I agree with you cuz im pretty sure if any girl gets raped they would be scarred and maybe embarrassed of what happenned to her. They would also get depressed and remember what happenned over and over and get scared.

I think Melinda is really scared and ashamed of whatever happened to her. I think she is going to have a really hard time telling someone about the incident because she might feel like no one will care since everyone is mean to her all the time. She needs to start to get comfortable with someone in order to tell her story.

some parents when you tell them that you've been raped don't beleive you. i can see whre you think that her parents wont support her because they dont act like a real family. but i think if she opened up to them they will help her and support her, but would be afraid because she went to the party without them going.
