Speak

When I first went t ninth grade it was kind of scary because it was a new school and I had no friends because I was new. In my English class I had to write a poem about my first day there. It was kind of embarrassing but that’s how I showed people who I really was and how I felt about my first day of ninth grade.

I think that mine and Melinda’s experiences are alike cause we were both shy and both alone but she was alone the whole year and I had friends the next day. But I have a lot of the same problems that milinda has so I can really relate to her so much. I think that Melinda shouldn’t have kept quiet for as long as she did but at the same time it is really hard to speak up. Mostly because you are scared of what is going to happen next but I always know that I can count on the counselors here at summit.

Melinda was shy, I agree. I don't think that has to do with the way she is, as much as what happened. I like your descriptions though, they are nice.

This was very interesting to hear your first day as a ninth grader. mine was kinda similar except i wasn't very shy i fit right in because of all the parties i whent to during the summer before. but there were some faces i didnt know that kind of made me sketchy of, but I eventualy got past that.

Yea I agree with this for sure. It is definitely easier said than done to speak up. Especially when you feel like you have no one to talk to.

yeah i agree when you first go to a new school it sucks because you are a new kid and i think that if Melinda would have been straight up social from the start then it would be way better for her and she wont be loosing all the friends and people at school.

I agree with David its not really on she was shy because shes not. Melinda wasn't shy she was afraid. She didnt know how to cope or what to do. She was confused and scared on what would happen.

I agree with you. My 9th grade was similar. She didn't speak to any body and when she did, they made fun of her. Well, that's what happened to me. I got to the point where I wouldn't talk to anybody and all I would do is draw and listen to music. I didn't really have any friends. At the end of the book, I was glad that she spoke up for herself.
